Erik John Saloman      9/11/84 - 1/12/10

His Journey's Just Begun

Don't think of him as gone away...his journey's just begun,
life holds so many facets...this earth is only one.
Just think of him as resting from the sorrows and the tears,
in a place of warmth and comfort
where there are no days and years.
Think how he must be wishing that we could know today,
       how nothing but our sadness
           can really pass away.
And think of him as living in the hearts of those he touched...
for nothing loved is ever lost --
and he was loved so much.

This was the first card I received hours after we learned about Erik.
It was the last thing read at his funeral service...

We miss you and love you Erik.

The dichotomy was feeling so guilty but knowing that nothing you did or said could/would make any difference. So impossible to reach him, so easy to love him.

The verse above is perfect. His short life here was a lesson in many ways not only for Erik, but for all of us as well. I loved him so.

Thank-you so much, he was so easy to love, and he knew that you loved him, which was hard for him to realize with most people. MA

Mary Ann -

Your blog is a beautiful testimony to your love of Erik and the emotional struggles that ensnare so many. This blog brought tears to my eyes. Although we do not know each other very well I feel you are a kindred spirit. Keep writing Mary Ann - you dig to the depths and also bring joy and laughter. It is my pleasure to know you - I wish I had had the pleasure of meeting Erik.
